Alexander McQueen Fall 2008:
I was watching Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and I remembered the huge controversy over accusations of the Costume designer directly copying an Alexander McQueen Fall 2008 dress and using it for the character of Fleur Delacour’s Wedding dress. The original dress was so beautiful, I thought i would give it another quick airing and sketch it.

The Origional Dress is below, and I imagine all my readers call see the similarities between the costume and the original dress.

Here are some closeups of my illustration. There was very little materials used, the main bulk of the dress is characterised by the bespoke lace which is formed into the form of two symmetrical Peacocks which spread their wings over the main body of the full-skirted dress.

The McQueen show was entitled “The Girl Who lived in the Tree” and referenced many different things including Oueens of England, The British/Indian Empire, Punk Princesses and Toy Soldiers. It was truly beautiful and one of his most beautiful and haunting shows.

As you all know, I love a nice bit of McQueen, archived and from current designer Sarah Burton, so there is no need to tell you, but there will of course be more McQueen featured in the future.
