REISS ILLUSTRATED COMPETITION
I was recently informed that Reiss, the High-street clothing store, was looking for 3 illustrators to have their art-work shown in their stores WorldWide.
I decided to enter and draw a specially designed illustration of two garments from their Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
I chose look 34 and 89 from their Spring Lookbook, below.
Look 34 was a really sweet split-sleeve mint green/aqua dress with a slight mullet hemline. This dress is bang on trend with the constant barrage of pastels we have been seeing from on the runways from designers like Louis Vuitton to Chanel.

I styled my models to be similar to the Lookbook styling as I wanted to make my illustrations look like they had been illustrated from life.
Look 89 is another extremely ‘On-Trend’ piece, using a multitude of segments and contrasting panels, which were seen on the runways of Vera Wang and Versus. This cream, tan and pale pink dress is very romantic and flattering due to the streamlined figure and accentuating panels.

I used a lot of pencil for shading to get the tan colours of the dress right. I also tried to capture some movement within the pleats of the dress, which created a really nice shape to the illustration.
The closing date for the competition is Midnight Tonight, So hopefully I shall let you know how I get on within the next few weeks.
